About us.

The purpose of Racing Pigeon Post, as Rod Adams once described his writings, is an attempt at keeping  dementia at bay. No doubt some will see in it proof it has already set in. While my main personal aim is to do well at racing, and thus during the season R.P.P. may suffer from the competition of time, I would also like to encourage wider participation and understanding of International pigeon racing.

The administration of
R.P.P. is very much a one man band operation, except that I rely heavily on the input of others, many others, who’s names you will see throughout. I make no claim on their material, except to present it and preserve copyright on their behalf. I do not necessarily agree with all opinions expressed and actually  welcome a diversity of opinion, as it is only by such an exchange that we can properly examine and learn.  There is also no sense of competition with other web sites, having neither the  time, resources nor inclination to do so. Actually I have the highest regard for sites like PIPA, which have made a great contribution to our sport. Nearer to home a shining example of   what a web site can do for the sport is Dennis Wall and family’s IPRR, of which I am an avid fan. IPRR has and is doing a power of good for both the B.I.C.C. and pigeon racing generally in the UK.

My life's work has been very much evidence based so what I would like to do, both in my racing and in
R.P.P., is bring an evidence based approach to the examination and furtherance of our sport. That might sound dull but I hope to convince you otherwise. As I am now solely interested in International Racing, that will be the  predominant theme, but it does not mean that other aspects of the sport will not creep in from time to time. I despair at the lack of structure in our organisation. We, in this country, are a loosely connected band of individuals who pay dearly for the privilege by high costs, slipshod administration and a total lack of formal recognition of achievement and success. Beyond that I can also understand the dilemma fanciers face between wanting to be a big fish in a small pond or taking on the challenge of the ocean that International racing represents. What I cannot fathom is the apparent desire of so many to be a whale in a puddle.

Finally, despite any advertising that might appear, this site is not sponsored by nor does it have any dependence, financial or business relationship with anybody. Some advertising that you see is there because I put it there and because I use the products or have familiarity with them and generally approve of them while other advertising, particularly for sales of pigeons etc., will be because I am aware of them and merely bring them to your attention in case it should interest you. In all cases let “Caveat Emptor” be your guide.

If
Racing Pigeon Post keeps my mind active and provides you with some interest, some entertainment and helps to extend our mutual enjoyment of the sport then it will have served its purpose.
