It was in Ailly-le-Haut-Clocher between Abbeville and Amiens I met Philip Bazille. All those involved in National or International competitions cannot ignore his prestigious colony.
Philip races in L'Association Colombophile d’Abbeville, he held positions as an officer, but for the past three years he has devoted himself exclusively to the International distance and he has been one of our regional specialists.
He became, like Jacky Hardy, a specialist at sorting and selecting by the wing, which explains his repeated success.
For over 20 years Philip has won many victories over all distances. Added to those obtained in the Groupement de la Somme, a very competitive group, are those in the Top 50 races including two Federal 1sts from Dax and Toulouse (with 2 hens).
The quality of his colony, his extreme motivation, experience, the perfection of his care and skill as a grader by the wing, make Philip an expert at National and International levels.
In his old stock are lines of Carteus (via VANDEPUT P & Son), and a super stichelbaut cock from Boddaert Vandamme, Philippe maintains the lines strictly by the wing. More recently he has introduced a cock from Bils Schleining. He does not mind inbreeding but he favours sorting by the wing.
Fifteen breeders, thirty widowers with a score of yearlings and so fifty pigeons make up the team of Philip. It is a young colony, of reasonable size with which Philip now looks forward even more to International summits.

Philip Bazille is very attentive to the health of his pigeons. Every day he observes the behavior of his subjects and examines the state of droppings and feathers. He is attempting to rapidly detect all diseases so they can be treated effectively without delay. He moreover built with his own hands, and with the help of his brother Michael, comfortable and convenient facilities that are well insulated and with excellent ventilation that avoids air currents, sworn enemies of the health of pigeons. He can be proud of his achievement!
The pigeons are vaccinated against paramyxovirus. Before breeding a cure against tricho and coccidiosis can be administered if necessary. During racing, if the airway is congested, a cure will be administered. Vitamins are almost never given during the season, alternatively olive oil is the main additive to the menu. The young pigeons are treated in the same way as the old, thus allowing for more efficient management.
Old birds and yearlings are raced on traditional widowhood or natural according to the competitions. To race his favorite competitions (Pau, Perpignan) pigeons are raced according to the method of a general team. As many as possible are basketed in competitions as the number of participants is important so they can get the mass pulling toward to the location of the loft. Males and females are separated mid-October and nests will be removed.
Please understand that pigeons require constant attention. He should know the limits of his colony, practicing strict screening and care for his champions and treating all his pigeons, whether yearling or older, with respect not letting them become just slaves. Philip Bazille has understood well what has enabled him he to set up this remarkable record.
Philip became a very good flyer and, according to Jacky Hardy, a very good wing sorter, it is good news for followers of this method.
Despite his success in distance racing and the International game where, he found the field for his talents to blossom, Philippe Bazille has not become big headed: as good as the next race, absolutely!
Let us review the career of the man known as "Mister Perpignan" (1st National Perpignan 2009 hens). He can be proud.
An impressive curriculum!

Some cracks in the colony
It is impossible to introduce all of them, unfortunately, but two really important ones are....

The premier pigeon of Philip BAZILLE, is F04-302050 the hen from the National Pau 2008 and 2009.
The hen of Ph. Bazille, F06-114513 1st National Hens Perpignan on 1st August 2009
The International Perpignan of 1st August 2009 consisted of 18,390 pigeons. Philip ranks 46th in the International.
These results are the result of repetition work every day, loving and intelligent care but behind it all is the selection method, patiently learned the wing selection.
Becoming adept with Jacky Hardy and Wing sorting proves with young pigeon that all these assets are linked, to repeat: sorting to select the best components, couplings after this selection, attentive daily care, regular workouts, clean the pigeon, food quality, the winning of races can not be done without them!
The wing of the hen
See her wing, this hen is the First National hen and second all categories.
Well, after reading this story, you'll easily seen why Philip Bazille is considered one of the best flyers of both International and National levels. This prestigious colony since its beginnings has distinguished itself each year for nearly 3 years.
But expect more. Philip is still not satisfied with the results ...
