A special yearling.

The Cureghem Centre International Yearling race from St Vincent of the 30th of July 2007 is a race designed to discover future stars. It is for yearlings only and the question it asks is will successful year old pigeons continue in their good form as older birds? With this in mind we at Racing Pigeon Post have decided to follow a yearling pigeon of Mark De Cock of Temse.
Mark entered 63 yearlings in the St Vincent race and the pigeon we have chosen was his first pigeon. This bird was 6th open. It is a cock. What is particular about this pigeon is that it was also Mark's first marked pigeon. To be able to select and get a pigeon from an entry of 63 takes some doing. Either the pigeon had a lot of form as a youngster or in earlier yearling races leading up to the St Vincent race or it was a choice based on other criteria. Which ever it was it has now become a marked pigeon of the future.
Pedigree.
Racing Pigeon Post will take special interest in this young cock next year. It is probably one of those rare gifted pigeons that shows itself from the very start of its racing life, one that hits you in the eye when you enter the loft. It is certainly one to watch. I might add that other yearlings that did well from St Vincent 2007 will also be noted and closely followed - I am sure by following the career of a pigeon it helps us all to better understand something about the nature of the pigeon and how they subsequently develop.

They don't all make it that is for sure.
