2010 Year of the International Pigeon.
For the Chinese it is the year of the “Tiger”, for the International Maritime Organization it is the year of the “Seafarer” and for the United Nations it is the “International Year of Biodiversity” but in the UK could it be the Year of the International Pigeon?
The prospects for International Racing within the UK have never been better with three major Clubs participating. The BICC have done it before but then so have the BBC and the NFC for that matter but this is the first time they have all done it in the same year. There has been a rising interest in International Racing within the UK for some time now but it takes a little while to get these things off the ground but now we are away, at last, and this surge of interest could bring with it great International success.
Between them the Clubs provide a variety of training races, or Nationals as they are called. For many people this is the main competition but can it really compare to getting “a good’en” from 20,000+ pigeons racing to the whole of Europe. If Nationals are your challenge then there is plenty to choose from but for those who want to take that little step further and take on the real challenge then these National races offer excellent training and education. So set your sights high, get your targets in view, sort out your team and let’s see if we can make this the year of the International Pigeon.
